Birds-I-View: The Decline of Higher Education

In the February edition of “Birds-I-View” Colleen Holden, Lauren Leisure and Bella Marello took a look at the decline of higher education due to a birth rate drop during the 2008 recession.
The show opened with Nathan Cihak looking into what happened 18 years ago leading to a decline in higher education now (1:54-5:10). Following this, Allie Hunn focused on how this will affect Illinois State University’s, and other public university’s, budget going forward (5:32-8:07).
Next, Courtney Conroy took a look at how this will affect a general universities and community colleges and how they plan to work around it (9:01-11:26). Bella Marello dove into the private university perspective on the topic (11:42-14:37).
Then, Lauren Leisure talked about the impact local private high schools have already seen (15:22-18:07). The show closed with Colleen Holden looked into how this will shape the future job market (18:24-20:51).
