New Features and Underpass Project Underway

NORMAL, Ill.- The Town of Normal held their second town meeting of the month November 15.
In the meeting there was discussion of the new Luckey Climber at the Children’s Discovery Museum. All of the members of the council agreed with the resolution for the new feature.
Council member Stan Nord brought up traditions that were in place since there was no policy that the foundation pays for exhibits. Nord brought up to the rest to the council if they should make a policy with the foundations or keep it a traditions.
Kevin McCarthy was thankful for the volunteers at the museum. Chemberly Cummings remembers when she was on the board and seeing plans for the new Luckey Climber. Cummings said seeing the plan almost 5 years later is “great thing.”
Another part of the meeting that was a part of the discussion was the agreement on Phase II & III Engineering Services for the Underpass Project at Uptown Station. Most of the council was in agreement with the movement of this phase.
Council member Stan Nord was concerned about the process, how this is a once-in-lifetime, and the other aspects of the project. Mayor Koos and other council members had to correct council member Stan Nord to keep on track with the agenda.
The town council’s next town meeting will be at 7 PM on December 6, 2021.
