Say Hello with Cocoa Staff Appreciation Event at ISU

NORMAL, Ill. – The last three years have brought struggle and difficulty to staff across the University after the COVID pandemic.
The Bone Student Center will host the Say Hello with Cocoa event alongside the Associated Professional Council to demonstrate Illinois State University’s appreciation to staff.
Administrative Aide at the Center for Civic Engagement, Beth Porter, says that the civil service and the Associated Professional Councils are putting on the event to say thank you to the ISU staff .
“We decided to thank personnel, and we came up with let’s just provide cocoa,” said Porter. Porter followed these comments by noting the event will also feature promotion of what the councils do for staff.
Porter explained that she is the secretary of the civil service council, and along with the A/P council, they fill committees and represent either civil service or A/P employees, which amounts to 488 members itself, across many platforms in campus.
The organization has been short staffed due to personnel leaving the University and were not able to fulfill their commitment to the homecoming parade. Therefore, the Council suggested the Say Hello with Cocoa event to say thank you for the work staff does.
Porter notes the event is open to all but the event on November 15th from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. is to encourage staff to meet and say hello to one another as well as council members.
