Illinois State University Updates Guidelines

School is right around the corner for students, staff and faculty meanwhile health guidelines are being altered.

The Illinois Department of Public Health has issued new guidance on entering another school year with the coronavirus. Illinois State University has since then taken the approach to update some of the face covering, vaccination and testing requirements for the university.

Masks are required indoor public areas including hallways, classrooms, dining halls, restrooms and any area with substantial traffic starting July 29.

Individuals who are vaccinated and taking courses or working on campus are required to provide evidence of receiving an approved vaccination to Student Health Services. If vaccination information has not been reached to the university by August 9, then students, staff and faculty must be tested every week. They will be tested with a saliva-based test provided by SHEILD Illinois.

Students that will be living in University Housing this fall will have to provide their approved vaccination information before move-in. If the student is not vaccinated, then they are required to get tested at least 72 hours before their scheduled move-in time. This information is to be uploaded through the student health portal. Move-in times will be delayed if the information is not provided by the student.

The university explains that there is no exemption process for the COVID-19 vaccination requirement.
