NORMAL, Ill. — This past weekend, the Sweet Corn Circus took place in Uptown Normal. This event occurs around this time every year and runs from Saturday to Sunday. Alongside the corn were tents and booths for many businesses and groups in the Bloomington-Normal area.
The event featured acrobatics from the Gamma Phi Circus, pro wrestlers and a variety of booths from the ISU tent to Medici. The smells, sounds and sights of the Sweet Corn Circus are an experience that draws in the Bloomington-Normal Residents every year.
“My friends and I were not able to go last year, but so glad we went this year. The corn was amazing…” said junior ISU student Vivian Morrison.
Another draw to the festival was the corn itself. Students got free corn by showing their school ID, and other patrons could purchase corn for $1. People also had the chance to see new things, such as the Bloomington Bison, Bloomington-Normal’s new hockey team.
“They actually are practicing and playing where we play, so it was really cool to go by their table and learn more about them.” said sophomore ISU student/club hockey goalie Matt DiFlippo.
