NORMAL, Ill. – The Film Society’s 48-Hour Film Challenge ended on Tuesday, resulting in three films being submitted from the groups who took the opportunity to participate and make the best films they can in 48-Hours.
A group led by Tyson Duda took the victory in the 48-Hour Challenge and their film was titled “Shopping Spree.”
Film Society President Kenzie Schmidt explained that their group won because of their production value and the ‘shopping cart’ prompt they used in the film.
“They went all the way and babysat a shopping cart for the weekend,” Schmidt said.
Schmidt said she enjoyed seeing the work that Tyson Duda’s group put into making the best film possible, while also seeing the amount of joy they had while making the film which was really enjoyable to her.
The audience that went to the 48 Hour Challenge had positive feedback, along with a lot of questions being asked, but everyone was pleased with how the challenge turned out.
Schmidt talks about the highlights that took place throughout the process of the 48-Hour Film Challenge.
“Just getting to watch everyone’s films with the teams with people that like to support student filmmakers was just so fun,” Schmidt said.
Everyone supporting one another throughout the event was a sight to see, and Schmidt cannot wait to have more of these challenges.
Schmidt said that going forward, they are going to do more advertising around ISU to gain more attention. The group also hopes to include it each semester going forward to find the sweet spot in the academic calendar that works for the people.
