COLUMBIA, MO – After months of preparation. Redbird Swimming & Diving capped off their season at the MVC Championships.
The 4-day meet pushed teams to their limits and brought out the best in many athletes. An athlete that experienced great success was Illinois State’s Kierston Farley-Sepe, who placed first in 3 of her events, got 2 pool records and the MVC Swimmer of the Year.
Head Swimming Coach Caitlin Hamilton expanded on what the senior has meant to the program.
“Kierston is special. Having her on the team brings us to a new level,” said Coach Hamilton. “She is one of the most selfless people you will ever meet.”
Although the Redbirds finished 4th in the meet, Coach Hamilton is optimistic for the future.
“Our seniors laid a really nice foundation for the program,” said Coach Hamilton. “We are really excited to get people in who are excited about competing for a conference title, and we are ready to rise through the ranks.”
Redbird Swimming & Diving would love to get right back in the pool but they will have to wait until next season.
