NORMAL-After two weeks off, the Redbirds Men’s Golf team sent three players to participate in an individual tournament held by the University of Wisconsin at pleasant view golf course.
Among those players sent were juniors Andrew O’brien, Joseph Hodgson, and freshman Parker Wisdom. O’brien led the way for the Redbirds by shooting a combined score of 145 through two rounds and finishing tied for third place.
Next up the Redbirds will travel to Arkansas this weekend and play in the Arkansas Little Rock intercollegiate. It will be the second to last tournament for the fall season, as the team will travel to the Bahamas on November first.
Senior David Perkins is off to a tremendous start to the 2019-2020 season and he will look to keep things rolling this weekend for the Redbirds.
“The course we’re going to, the play is very demanding and there are a lot of trees,” said Perkins. “This week I’ll definitely be working on my driver, because if I feel comfortable with my driver I’ll most likely play well.”
Perkins and the Redbirds will be playing at Chenal Country club, which is known for its rolling hills and thick wooded areas. This causes for tough hole placements and shots were you can’t see where you’re aiming at.
Perkins has won two Missouri Valley Conference player of the week awards this season which makes him a nine time award recipient. Through nine rounds he has yet to finish over par and will try to extend that streak on monday.
