Redbird Gymnastics fall to Central Michigan

NORMAL, Ill.-Coming off a win last week, Redbird Gymnastics was defeated by Central Michigan over the weekend 194.900-193.625 at McGuirk Arena.

Illinois State began on bars with a final score of 48.475 where Freshman Jercy Koliego posted a career high of 9.800 to place fourth overall. Senior Julia Henier finished sixth with a score of 9.725.

Freshman pair Sammie Wolff and Savannah Ray both had a solid score on vault. Wolff tied for the win with a score of 9.825. Ray placed sixth with her score of 9.700. Redbirds finished 48.350 trailing the Chippewas.

In a solo event, Sophomore Ally Lau, posted a win with a score of 9.825 on beam. Senior Courtney Woods and Junior Leah Davis had top five finishes with a score of 9.750, tying for fifth place.

On floor,Illinois State achieved their highest event score of the season of 48.600. Davis was the highlight on floor bringing the Redbirds a second place finish with a 9.825. Additionally, Junior Jaly Jones added on to their high score, tying for third place with a 9.800.

To close out the meet Redbirds earned a 48.200 on beam. Next up for Illinois State Gymnastics on February 1st where they will head to Southeast Missouri State to compete in a quad meet. Illinois State will compete against Ball State, UW-Oshkosh, and the hosts at 1pm.
