NORMAL, Ill. – This past Saturday, Illinois State Redbird Football took on Eastern Illinois at home. This would be their 112th matchup against each other in the Mid-America Classic. ISU leads 60-43-9 in the all-time series between the two teams.

In the first quarter, both teams struggled to score points for most of it. But as the quarter came to a close, the Redbirds scored two touchdowns to take a 14-0 lead. The second quarter saw both teams score a touchdown apiece, with ISU leading 21-7 at halftime.

The third quarter saw little action, with the Redbirds scoring a field goal—the only points scored in that quarter. In the fourth, the Redbirds scored a rushing touchdown and won the game 31-7.

Quarterback Tommy Rittenhouse threw for 228 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Wenkers Wright ran for 150 yards and scored a touchdown. Receiver Daniel Sobkowicz had 93 yards and two touchdowns.

With the win over the Panthers, the Redbirds are now the winners of the Mid-America Classic in 6 of the last seven years. Coach Brock Spack also moves 10-5 against the team he used to coach for.

ISU moves to 3-1 on the season and will take on #2 ranked North Dakota State next Saturday. This Homecoming game will start at 2 p.m., and coverage here on WZND will start at 1:50.
