Taylor Swift is a singer-songwriter from West Reading, Pennsylvania. She currently has 104,842,592 monthly listeners on Spotify. Her new album, The Tortured Poets Department, came out on April 19, 2024. The album contains 31 tracks and has a running time of 2 hours and 2 minutes.
My favorite track off of this album has to be “Down Bad.” The lyrics are relatable while the beat is steady. I really like the overall tone of the original song. The clean version does not do that overall tone justice.
A great upbeat song is “I Can Do It With A Broken Heart.” This song just has so many layers to it. First, it’s one of the very few upbeat songs on this album. Underneath the track you can hear what is supposed to mimic what Taylor hears in her in-ears she wears while performing. This is because she expresses in the song that even though her heart was broken, she still has a tour and other projects to work on. I also think “thanK you aIMee” is such a clever song. Taylor Swift and Kim Kardasian have publicly had beef for a while and this song is so obviously about her, like the capital letters spell ‘KIM’. Genuinely the lyrics in this song are genius.
Another favorite of mine is “So High School.” I love the concept of the song, and there’s one part in the bridge that goes, ‘Truth, dare, spin bottles; You know how to ball, I know Aristotle; Brand-new, full throttle; Touch me while your bros play Grand Theft Auto’ that just scratches my brain right. Plus I think it’s cute that the song is about her boyfriend Travis Kelce.
Overall, this is not my favorite album of Swift’s. I kind of got bored with how out of 31 songs, almost all of them were slow. But like I said some of the lyricism is so clever so it
makes up for it a bit.
