Sabrina Carpenters 2023 album emails i cant send fwd: is incredibly fun and poppy. The album in its essence is a breakup album– the songs largely cover topics such as toxic relationship behaviors, situationships, tackling life after a break up. However, there are a few outliers like emails i cant send where Carpenter discusses her relationship to her father and how it affects her love life and nonsense where she details the excitement of the first stages of attraction. Whatever topic, the songs on this record are incredibly catchy and enjoyable to listen to.

Vicious is the second song on the record and it sets a strong tone for the rest of the album. She goes over the traits of a person who led her on but is still regarded highly to others. Carpenter’s vocals are stunning in this song. She is more breathy and soft in the verses when the lyrics are also a little more timid. Once she gets to the chorus her voice becomes stronger and more sure. In the bridge she uses vocal effects to sound even more strong and angry. While also showing off how talented she is, it is the perfect metaphor to go along with the lyrics.

There is a reason Feather is the clear hit off of this record. It takes a topic as painful as a breakup and cutting contact with someone and flips it on it’s head in such a playful way. She takes a relatable concept and spins it. It’s the perfect confidence booster to remind you that you are probably better off without them. The hook is such an earworm– when I hear this song it gets stuck in my head for the rest of the day! She demonstrates the softness in her music flawlessly here and creates a song that’s perfect for almost every time of listening. When pairing this song with the video you really get an understanding of the animosity hidden under such a poppy tune. This song definitely deserves to be Carpenter’s number one hit.

As a long time Sabrina Carpenter fan, it is so cool to watch her explode in popularity these past couple years. She has worked extremely hard and her talent as a singer and performer are finally being recognized. The songs on this album are fun and clever and I loved every moment of listening. I can’t wait to see what Carpenter does next!
