The rising American rapper, Ice Spice, has not failed to drop some of the most addicting drill and hip-hop tracks over the last couple of years. Her latest album Like…? (Deluxe) was released on July 21, 2023, and is the official version of her debut EP Like…? It consists of 11 tracks featuring artists Nicki Minaj and Lil Tjay. Did I mention every single one has been very addictive?
Before going over some of her tracks, I feel that it is important to mention how drill music has become more popular over the last decade with the latest trends. Especially with Ice Spice using drill beats and her hip-hop influences to create tracks that have become popular on TikTok and other social media platforms. She has been gaining recognition for her appearances on the Barbie Soundtrack and collaborations with artists such as the iconic Nicki Minaj, Aqua, Lil Tjay, and Pink Pantheress. So you just cannot miss her sound playing over the radio!
One of her most popular tracks is Princess Diana (with Nicki Minaj) and is one of my favorite artist collaborations this summer. We just love artist collaborations around here! This track in particular was meant to flaunt Ice Spice’s recognition in the hip-hop music scene alongside the veteran American rapper, Nicki Minaj. Basically announcing their crowns of being hip-hop queens with this trap sequel.
A personal favorite track in the album has to be Bikini Bottom! If you are familiar with the 2000s show Spongebob Squarepants then you will see how this remix stands out differently from the rest. But this track is more or less about her newfound lifestyle and is similar to her freestyle bonus track On The Radar where she brings up points of how her life has changed.
I know not everyone is a fan and some people think she might end up being a one-hit-wonder I HIGHLY encourage those to give her another listen. Her sounds speak volumes. If you need hype music and love to create hip-hop choreography, Ice Spice is your girl. I can’t wait to see what else she has in store for the music scene.
Favorite Tracks: Bikini Bottom, Princess Diana, On the Radar (honorable mentions In Ha Mood, Butterfly Ku)
Overall Rating: 8/10
