In Pieces – Chlöe

Paige Cole April 10, 2023

By: Paige Cole

Chloe Bailey, who is often referred to as Chlöe, is an American singer, song writer, record producer, and actress who was born July 1st, 1998. She is a part of the duo, Chloe x Halle, with her younger sister, Halle Bailey, who plays Ariel in Disney’s upcoming film, “The Little Mermaid.” Chloe is described as “one of the greatest vocalists of her generation” as she has been nominated for 5 Grammy awards. She focuses on a variety of genres like contemporary R&B, pop, R&B Soul, trap music, rock, Latin pop, Indian film pop, and even children’s music. She is skilled in piano, keyboards, drums, and of course, vocals.

Recently, she released her 1st solo album, In Pieces on March 31st, 2023. Her album also features popular artists Missy Elliot, Future, and Chris Brown. She is also touring this Spring, while kicking off her first show on April 11th in Chicago at the Riviera Theatre. This first headline tour will run until May 3rd, while wrapping up in Los Angeles. Although there are only 11 tour dates, I am sure that she will release more music over the years and have a bigger tour down the road.

The first song on the album, “Someone’s Calling (Chlöe),” features saxophones and background echoes of people saying “Chloe,” which sounds like a chorus. A very short song, but a great intro to the rest of the album. She experiments with a lot of harmonies on this album and I think that is a great way to try new things and make the song sound better. I definitely feel a Beyonce vibe from this album because it is R&B/Soul and sounds a lot like her. I like the rhythms presented in this album and the different vibes from each song. It can vary from a slower song to a more upbeat song. I like this variety because you can switch up your moods while listening.

Overall, I like the different voices represented throughout the album and the use of music and background noise. I think there are a lot of different instruments used to make the rhythms and I think they are very catchy. I really liked the songs that focused on themes of love like “Heart on My Sleeve” and “In Pieces.” Chloe’s vocals on these two tracks also remind me of Ariana Grande’s voice. I like the use of piano in “In Pieces” because it helps to keep the song flowing. I can tell that she spent time writing these two songs and putting her feelings into words. I enjoyed listening to this album and would definitely recommend it to others. She is an amazing singer and I think she will achieve great success in her career.
