Thursday night on March 28th, 2024, I got the opportunity to go see a Metallica tribute band called Hardwired with my friend and coworker Syd at The Castle Theatre! As usual The Castle was a beautiful venue and Hardwired really decorated the stage with their logo and very cool light up crosses. I didn’t know what to expect from a tribute band but I was so impressed with their whole set up. Before they even started playing I could tell this band loves what they do and the dedication they have to performing Metallica’s music. They brought a lot of energy to the stage and played the covers incredibly well, including the very difficult guitar solos. I loved being able to see that talent and share the experience with the band and the crowd
The crowd was pretty packed and a very diverse crowd. There were people from probably ages 13-60 there and they were all there for the same reason which was music. It’s cool to see the impact the music of a staple band can have on listeners for generations and generations to come. I don’t know many other things that can get people of so many different ages together like that. You could also tell a lot of the people there were die hard Metallica fans and gave the energy back to the performers.
Something I love about The Castle Theatre is how open it is. We made a couple friends that night because we all were there for the same thing and the castle gives you the chance to be around lots of different people because it isn’t a confined seating area which really enhances the feeling of community in the crowd. The band also was very connected with the crowd! They took requests for songs, had the crowd sing parts of the song and even sang happy birthday to someone! The guitarist also gave me a guitar pick and it was so cool because it had their logo on it.
Overall, I once again loved the venue, love the crowd and the performers. If you want to see something that is pretty spot on to a Metallica concert for the fraction of the price I would 100% suggest going to see Hardwired! I know I will definitely keep an eye out for them again!
