Drowning Pool and Saliva – The Castle Theatre

Elizabeth Zoerner April 7, 2024

By: Elizabeth Zoerner

I attended the Drowning Pool and Saliva concert at Castle Theatre on April 7th and had an amazing time. Going into this concert, I did not know really any of the band’s music, so I was very excited and intrigued to hear them. As I was an avid guitar hero player growing up, I was excited to hear Bodies live, as that was one of my favorite songs to play. One thing I loved about Drowning Pool was the instrumentals themselves, as I felt they added a lot to the music in general. The guitar parts were different from what I expected, as Bodies is more of a metal song. The majority of the rest of their music has unique guitar parts that aren’t just chords, which is not typical to see with many metal bands. I also loved the energy the singer brought to the stage, as ran around and even came down to the crowd and let people use the mic. I really liked how his mic was on a stand, but he could still move around with it and use it as a prop in a way. Drowning Pool also covered a personal favorite song of mine, Rebel Yell by Billy Idol, which they brought great justice to. The instrumentals and vocals for that cover were spot on and I absolutely loved it. To close out the night, Saliva played and rocked the stage. As I hadn’t heard their music before, I was not too sure what to expect, especially since Drowning Pool had already exceeded my expectations. My favorite song of their set was Click Click Boom, as I really felt like it brought the perfect ending to the concert. As a very high-energy song, the crowd went insane, with lots of moshing. Although I went into this concert not knowing any of the bands, I can definitely say I will be listening to all of them more, as they blew me away seeing them live.
