FORT WORTH, TX. – Jaye Mack competed in Fort Worth Thursday in the NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championships.
Earning a 9.7500, Jaye didn’t blow anyone away with her final performance of the year. But, this doesn’t take away anything from the great performances she had throughout the year in the floor event.
“It probably wasn’t the routine that I was expecting to have and I had a few mistakes,” the freshman said. “But overall, I’m just really proud of myself and how far I’ve come this season and I’m excited to come back next year.”
After Angelica Labat did so last season, Mack became the second Redbird to represent Illinois State at Nationals. “It’s really just an amazing feeling, I’m glad that I’ve had her to look up to and follow in her footsteps,” Mack said. “I really think that it’ll put ISU on the map, I feel like this team has so much to offer, so much talent and I just can’t wait to see what the future holds for us.”
During Jaye’s freshman season, she earned MIC Newcomer of the Week honors twice, along with a Performance of the Week Award. In the floor event, she earned Co-Champion of the MIC.
