NORMAL, Ill. – Family weekend would not be complete without some music to accompany the atmosphere.

This Sunday, Illinois State University’s four acapella groups will host Acapalooza, a celebration of acapella at ISU.

“So Acapalooza is like a beginning of the year concert that all the acapella groups put on together,” said Matt Sepers, the Vice President of Acafellaz. “We all sing about two to three songs. We kind of show what our new group looks like and what we sound like. It’s kind of to get people excited for the rest of the semester and the rest of the year.”

There are four different acapella groups on campus. Students interested do not have to be a music major to join says Sepers. The groups include the Acafellaz, On the Brink of Normal, ISU Clef Hangers, and Secondary Dominance.

Each group will present their own set of songs during the hour-long show.

“I will say we are singing a mashup of a very recent popular song Good for You by Olivia Rodrigo along with Misery Business by Paramore,” said Sepers. “I hope that a lot of people can come because it’s just an hour of your time, and it can be a really fun experience.”

You can find Acapalooza this Sunday at 3 PM in the Capen Auditorium in Edwards Hall.
