Green Gables Bar and Grill Plans for Construction

NORMAL, Ill. – Green Gables Bar & Grill held a fundraiser last week in preparation for the business’s new facility. Hosted by DESTIHL Brewery and Beer Hall, hundreds of community members gathered together to support Green Gables through food, t-shirt, and beer sales.
In May of 2021, Green Gables went down in flames. The accident started in the back compressor room of the building and was fueled by high winds coming in through the exhaust fan. The exact cause of the fire is still unknown.
Amy Tague, the current owner of Green Gables, expects the cost to rebuild to be a substantial amount, saying “our projection of the loan we’re going to need is double for what we paid for Green Gables when we just bought it last year.” Plans for the new building are already in place. Once zoning approves the variances applied for, Tague expects to add an extra grill and fryer, double their seating, and reduce grocery aisle space.
Tague says her partnership with DESTIHL will continue after the facility’s completion. DESTIHL went as far as to craft their own ‘Green Gables Ale’, the proceeds for which will all go towards the new building.
The new Green Gables will be built where it originally stood, at 17485 E 2500 North Rd N, Hudson, IL. Concrete is expected to start pouring in November of this year, with building beginning in Spring of 2023.
