College of Business Sales and Marketing Job Fair

Written by on October 7, 2022

NORMAL, Ill. – The College of Business at Illinois State University hosted the virtual handshake sales and marketing job fair from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. this afternoon.

Upon discussing some of the primary aspects and benefits of the event program coordinator and Executive Director of the Professional Sales Institute at ISU, Michael Boehm, elaborated on how students can benefit taking part in the fair.

“Students attending the fair would meet with companies that provide locations not only in Illinois and Chicago, but across the country,” said Boehm. “They’d also be meeting companies, many offering sales positions to existing accounts, so they could be account managers. In some cases it would be business development, other cases it’s indirect sales; where they’d be selling from a manufacturer to a distributer, which the distributor would then sell to the end user.”

As the job fair allowed companies to show students what they have to offer, Boehm touched on the size of some of the companies in attendance.

“We got the 9th largest privately owned company attending,” said Boehm.

Referring to the perks that companies at the job fair offer, Boehm noted that some of the award trips for successful students include a week long trip to Hawaii, a trip to Kohler, Wisconsin and competitive starting salaries for first-year employees at companies in attendance, with the expectation of the ability to be promoted from within the hiring company.
