Bloomington- After emerging victorious in a must win game at Rantoul last week, the Central Catholic Saints (3-4) managed to keep their playoff hopes alive for another week. That game was a statement win for the Saints, who had not won a road game before that matchup. Saints Head Coach Kevin Braucht spoke highly of how his team was able to overcome adversity and win.
“We played very well on defense. We protected the football. After the first quarter the field was a little wet, so it took us a little time to get used to the field conditions,” said Braucht, “for the most part we stayed out of our own way and settled into the game nice and did what we had to do.”
This week the Saints have their toughest challenge of the season so far playing an away game against undefeated Illinois Valley Central. Through seven games IVC has scored 232 points while only allowing a dismal 82 points. Braucht preaches to his team about the importance of staying focused.
“It’s our same message we’ve been trying to send all season,” said Braucht, “We’re taking it one game at a time and the details are extremely important to us, how we prepare, how we meet, how we practice.”
The game will be played at Illinois Valley Central High School and kickoff is scheduled for 7:00.
