Written by on September 26, 2023

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. –  The Cat’s Meow Cafe is Bloomington’s first cat cafe, providing patrons a place to enjoy local brews and friendly felines at the same time.

Upon entering, there is a warm and inviting atmosphere. The cafe has partnered with a local rescue group to provide a temporary home for up to 13 cats eagerly awaiting their forever families. After the purchase of anything from the cafe, patrons are welcome to sit, play and pet with all the cats in hopes they may want to take them home.

The café accommodates various schedules. On weekdays, they are open from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Weekends offer a more relaxed vibe, with hours from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

During the cafe’s soft launch, some of the resident cats had already found their forever homes. Patron Sarah Klein expressed such excitement.

She said, “I love how The Cat’s Meow Cafe offers a perfect blend of relaxation and coffee. It will be my go-to spot most mornings.”

Aside from the main attraction, The Cat’s Meow Cafe also boasted a delectable menu. They offered hot drinks, like espresso, macchiatos and tea. Their food included breakfast sandwiches and pastries like , muffins and cinnamon rolls.

The cafe has a dedicated team of staff members with one person per shift to be solely devoted to cat care, providing the cats with sufficient care and attention.

Beyond simply serving cat lovers, the cafe aims to be a place where people could connect and make new friends. Patron John O’Brien commented on this, saying he enjoyed the atmosphere of the cafe.

“There is something magical about sipping a latte while a playful cat weaves through your legs,” O’Brien said.

The Cat’s Meow Cafe provides coffee lovers and cat enthusiasts alike with a great place to go, whether they are seeking out human or feline companionship.
