NORMAL, Ill . Ballin on Beaufort was back in action on Thursday Oct 17 for a second year in a row, and took a village to pull off. More specifically, it took a town to pull off.
Ballin on Beaufort is an exhibition pickup game between ISU men’s and women’s basketball teams, with the game being played in Uptown Normal. The event was held in a partnership with the Town of Normal. Civic Arts Manger for the town of Normal Adam Fox explains the involvement the town has in making this event happen.
‘The Town’s role is to make sure the streets are closed off, everything is safe and set up right for everybody,” Fox said. “We work with ISU to make sure they have everything they need as far as security, working with the business and to make sure everyone has a safe and positive time.”
Fox also explained the planning that went in to pulling off an even like this.
‘It took about six months to make this event happen and to make sure no other event was being planned on this day,” Fox said. “We like to plan events early because it helps with making adjustments if needed.”
Both the Men’s and Women’s basketball seasons will be back in action in the winter.
