NORMAL, Ill.- American Red Cross of Illinois has set up a virtual event for Heroes.
Red Cross has promised various people a dedicated Zoom meeting who have been recognized for their acts of heroism, service and dedication to building a better community.
More than 200 Heroes throughout this year and were selected by an independent committee to be recognized for their efforts with helping people through the pandemic.
Regional Communications Manager Drew Brown says that Red Cross used various ways to find these heroes throughout this year and previous years.
“When it comes to the Red Cross we tell different stories; We have the Red Cross Blog and we have different volunteers and we have medium partners this year with WMBD news in Peoria in which they cover central Illinois,” said Brown. “They have a segment called ‘CI Heroes’ where they honor heroes from central Illinois. This is something that has been going on with the Red Cross for years.”
Brown said the Red Cross wants to carry out that tradition.
“We always encourage people to share their amazing stories. There are so many heroes in our community,” said Brown
This event will be held on Thursday, April 29 at 9 a.m.
