NORMAL – The Illinois State Men’s Basketball team (12-9, 5-3 MVC) defeated the Indiana State Sycamores (11-9, 3-5 MVC) 76-62 Sunday afternoon.
The Redbirds led the game wire-to-wire and saw big contributions from both Keyshawn Evans and Phil Fayne. Evans scored 17 points with five made 3-pointers in the first half.
Head Coach Dan Muller detailed how well Evans has been shooting of late.
“He has been shooting it well,” said Muller. “If you look at his last 4 to 5 games it’s kind of the old Keyshawn. It is big for our team. It’s critical he continues to play the way he is playing.”
Milik Yarbrough had a quiet game with just 9 points. He is dealing with a sore knee currently. Muller talked about how they need to be cautious with their star.
“He was limping around in practice,” said Muller. “It’s something we think will continue to improve, but with this stretch of games without days off we need to be careful.”
The Redbirds will next take the court on Wednesday as they face the Drake Bulldogs on the road. Tipoff in that game is set for 7 p.m.
