BLOOMINGTON, Ill.- The Illinois Wesleyan Titans had tremendous success this fall, competing against some tough competition.
As their fall season recently concluded, Head Coach Jim Ott liked what he saw from his team this fall.
“We had a great fall season, we played in five tournaments and won four of them and finished second in the other one.” Said Ott.
Ott is a former IWU team captain and enters his 20th season at his alma mater.
The Titans faced some high-level competition this fall competing in two division II tournaments that had Division I teams competing in them as well. After getting canceled in the spring and having not competed in a tournament as a team since March, Ott thought this fall really helped the team improve as a whole.
“Getting the taste of competition all fall helped a lot because we were canceled last spring, and golf tournaments this summer were spotty, nothings been the usual.” Said Ott.
The Titans are entering the winter offseason on a high note after winning the Olivet Nazarene Fall Intercollegiate tournament winning by 30 strokes. IWU will not be in action until next spring, but Ott says they will continue getting better throughout the offseason.
“We will work on specific practice improvement plans for each player and will evaluate each of them,” said Ott. “We use a lot of data and metrics on where they need to improve, and each player will have a practice plan to work on where they need to focus in the offseason.”
The Titans look to continue their success once the spring season rolls around.
