NORMAL, Ill. – Redbird Swimming and Diving looks to make a splash this season with the release of their 2021 spring schedule.
Second-year Head Coach Caitlin Hamilton said she’s happy to have finalized the team’s schedule Monday afternoon.
“It is a sense of relief to finally have our meet schedule for the upcoming season,” said Hamilton. “Throughout the summer and fall, the MVC head coaches met and came up with a revised plan that put our student-athletes’ safety at the forefront, while also allowing us to have a competitive, championship-focused season. We are grateful to have meets to look forward to and prepare for.”
The Redbirds begin their season are the annual UIC Diving Invitational in Chicago on Jan. 30. Illinois State will make its home debut on Feb. 13 against Valparaiso before hitting the road for a dual meet at UNI two weeks later. ISU will get three weeks off before heading to Carbondale, Illinois to face Southern Illinois and Evansville on March 19.
Illinois State will wrap up their season with a virtual meet against Little Rock on Mar. 27. Both the Redbirds and Trojans will swim at their home facilities. Events will have strict start times, while meet officiants will send results back-and-forth with Little Rock through the teams’ scoring systems.
The 2021 Missouri Valley Conference Championships are set for April 14-16 in Carbondale, Illinois. More information regarding the championship will be released at a later date.
Due to state and local guidelines, fans won’t be allowed in Horton Pool for meets, but things could change if the guidelines do.
