NORMAL, Ill. – At the McLean County Board ZOOM meeting, members discussed budget, tax rates and said a farewell to a District 8 county board member who is resigning.

Goodbye, Robustelli

Member Carlo Robustelli will be resigning from the board and has accepted a position in Carlisle, Pennsylvania at Dikinson College for the leadership team as the Vice President of Advancement. Robustelli has served as the assistant Vice President for Advancement at Illinois Wesleyan University, which involves fundraising efforts.

Dickinson College is a premier four-year residential liberal-arts institution chartered in 1783 and widely recognized as a leader in global and sustainability education.

“While this new professional opportunity is very exciting for me and my family, it is incredibly difficult to move away from such a great community with so many cherished friends and colleagues,” said Robustelli.

Robustelli is confident that McLean County has a bright future.

“When we moved to Bloomington-Normal in 2011, I never imagined I would end up serving in an elected office and have so many opportunities to make a difference and get involved. It has been inspiring to see so many people step forward and get more engaged at the local level, making their voices heard and turning their ideas into action. I believe that only when residents are involved and local governments work together can we do our best work for McLean County, and the members of this community have never disappointed me.”

Robustelli is the District 8 Representative and the Vice Chairman to the Health Committee. He has also served on the committees for Finance, Justice and the Legislative Sub-Committee. He was appointed to the board in 2013. He also won election in 2014 and reelection in 2016, but due to the new position and resignation he will not be running again.

Instead Democrat Lea Cline and Republican Jordan Baker will be running for that seat.

The budget

The counties 2021 budget is being distributed and is up for approval in November.

The new Salary and Employment budget includes a 1% pay increase in January and July of 2021.

In all, the 2021 budget for the county has increased by $98,000.

The tax rate

The projected tax rate for the year has raised to 0.91376, which is a little higher than the 2020 tax rate.
