OSF Healthcare Joins Hoosier Cancer Research Network

PEORIA, Ill.- The OSF Healthcare Cancer Institute has joined the prestigious Hoosier Cancer Research Network and now has access to collaboration with different health centers across the globe.

The network includes many academic health centers, community health systems, pharmacies and biotechnology partners. 

“[The HCRN] is yet another way for us to work with other investigators and tie us together,” said Robert McWilliams, MD, who joined OSF back in February as the deputy director of the cancer institute.

“There’s a need here. We’re developing something special here in Peoria,” said Robert McWilliams.

McWilliams cited the development of the Breakthrough Treatment Center as something OSF can bring to the table with the new affiliation.  

“[The treatment center] will bring the most exciting advances to our patients.”

The new partnership and its many benefits for cancer research will have the Illinois-based health institute in a good position for future research. 

The partnership between OSF and the HCRN has not officially started yet, with many parts of the process to go before it becomes official.
