NORMAL, Ill. — With four weeks of the 2026 IHSA season in the books, the teams in Bloomington-Normal are finding their identities.

Bloomington Central Catholic got back on track after last week’s loss. The Saints defeated Rantoul 56-20 to improve to 3-1 on the year. Their next game is against the undefeated Monticello at home.

Normal West showed some local pride this week, taking down its neighbors, the Bloomington Purple Raiders. The Wildcats defeated the Purple Raiders with ease 44-7, to improve to 4-0 on the year. Their next game is against 2-2 Peoria Notre Dame at home.

Bloomington was on the losing end of a local showdown against Normal West. The Purple Raiders lost 44-7 to fall to 2-2 on the season. Bloomington’s next game is home against 1-3 Richwoods.

Normal Community had another week of offensive firepower on display, defeating Peoria Notre Dame 56-35. The Ironmen improve to 4-0 on the season, making them one of two undefeated teams in the area. They will hit the road for their next game against 1-3 Champaign Central.

Despite the strong start, Normal Community head coach Jason Drengwitz made it clear that his team is not satisfied.

“We’re 4-0, but this week is over,” said Drengwitz. “We got to go on to the next week and just keep being the best version of ourselves. So proud of all of our guys…but we’re not satisfied and we know we have to get better.”

University High can’t seem to find their rhythm this year, losing to Galesburg 57-36. The Pioneers fall to 0-4 on the year and need to pick it up quickly for a chance to make the playoffs. Their next game is against 3-1 MacArthur on the road.
