NORMAL, Ill. — It’s senior day at CEFCU Arena as the Illinois State Redbirds women’s basketball team returns home this afternoon to take on Missouri Valley Conference leader Murray State.

The Redbirds look to defend their home court against one of the top teams in the conference. Illinois State comes into the game after picking up a huge overtime win Friday against Belmont. The Redbirds enter today’s matchup with a 16–10 overall record and a 10–5 mark in conference play.

As for Murray State, the Racers have been dominant all season. They come in with an impressive 23–3 overall record and a 14–1 record in MVC play.

Illinois State and Murray State meet for the 10th time in program history, with the Redbirds holding a narrow 5–4 series lead, though the Racers have won three of the last four matchups.

Leading the way for the Redbirds this season is sophomore forward Doneelah Washington, who averages 17 points and 9 rebounds per game, nearly a double-double on the year.

For the Racers, junior guard Halli Poock leads the team in scoring at 21 points per game, while junior forward Sharnae-Currie Jelks controls the glass, averaging 12 rebounds per contest.

ISU comes into the contest with a perfect 13–0 record at home this season, one of the best single-season home performances in program history.

Today’s game will tip off at 2 p.m. at CEFCU Arena, and immediately following the game, the Redbirds will honor their graduating seniors as part of senior day festivities.
