Illinois State Men’s Basketball Returns Home on Wednesday

NORMAL, Ill. – The Redbirds return from Florida to host the Eastern Kentucky Colonels at CEFCU Arena on November 2, at 7 p.m.
ISU is currently on a five-game winning streak after winning two games in Kissimmee, Florida, at the Terry’s Chocolate ESPN Events Invitational. Eight games into the season, Illinois State’s record is sitting at 6-2. Head Coach for the Redbirds is Ryan Pedon, who is in his fourth season.
Ty Pence has been a man on a mission as of late, as he won the Imagination Bracket MVP for the tournament. Pence’s performance in the tournament was highlighted by a 20-point and 10-rebound performance against Furman on November 28. Pence is averaging 10 points per game this season so far.
The highlight on offense all season for ISU is Ty’Reek Coleman, who leads the team in scoring through the first eight games. The true-freshman is averaging 13.6 points per game.
Other double-digit scorers for the Redbirds include Johnny Kinziger, Chase Walker, and Boden Skunberg.
Eastern Kentucky is coming into this game looking to turn things around as they enter with a six-game losing streak. The Colonels have played seven games this season and have a record of 1-6 entering their game against the Redbirds. Head Coach for EKU is A.W. Hamilton, who is in his eighth year.
EKU’s leading scorer this season so far is Montavious Myrick, a 6 ft 8 in Forward. The graduate student averages 13 points per game and 6.6 rebounds.
The Colonels have four more double-digit scores in their lineup. Austin Ball, Juan Cranford Jr., MJ Williams, and Turner Buttry all score over 10 points per game and shoot around 40 percent from the field.
