Five Redbirds in Double Digits helps Illinois State Improve Winning Streak to Three

NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State was all over Coastal Carolina at CEFCU Arena on Sunday, Nov. 23, 94-42.
Nothing could go wrong for the Redbirds’ offense, shooting 49 percent from the field. Ty’Reek Coleman, alongside Ty Pence, led the way for ISU in scoring, both with 16. Coleman also racked up three rebounds and one assist. For Pence he came down with three rebounds as well and dished out three assists.
Johnny Kinziger was assessed a technical foul in the game with 8:39 left in the first half. Kinziger finished with 13 points after having eight first-half points.
Coastal Carolina was assessed three technical fouls, two came from Head Coach Justin Gray. The other came from AJ Dancler.
Jack Daugherty came off the bench for the Redbirds, lighting up from beyond the arc. Daugherty went 3-5 from the field, all came from three. The sophomore finished with 14 points.
Also coming off the bench and scoring double digits was Brandon Lieb. Lieb scored 10 points and came down with six rebounds.
Chase Walker and Boden Skunberg were in the starting lineup as they joined Coleman, Pence, and Kinziger. Walker finished with six points and five rebounds. Skunberg had eight points with seven rebounds.
Landon Wolf, Mason Klabo, and Landon Moore provided points off the bench for the Redbirds. Wolf had four points while grabbing five rebounds. The freshman Klabo put up four points while he dished out five assists. Landon Moore came in late in the game and hit one three-pointer as he finished with three points.
Illinois State now improves its record to 4-2 after the win versus the Chanticleers. Next up for ISU is a trip to Florida for Terry’s Chocolate ESPN Events Invitational. The Redbirds’ first game will be against Charlotte at 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 27, at the State Farm Field House.
