Shrek Rave- The Castle Theater

Shrek is such an iconic movie of my generation and one that has sparked so many memes. So when I heard there was a rave that was Shrek themed, I was so excited to go, and it did not disappoint!

Shrek Rave is a DJ based group who work together to bring real techno rave music with a Shrek theme to multiple cities across the US. Our DJ brought the energy! Not only did he make good mixes and beat drops, but he also knew how to hype the crowd up. From crowd participation to dancing around himself, our DJ brought great vibes.

The venue itself really caught my eye going in. Shrek Rave performed at The Castle Theatre, located in the heart of downtown Bloomington. From the outside, this theater has a retro vibe with how amazing their marquee is. I definitely love taking pictures outside with it, it’s beautiful. The inside is also just as amazing. They have a pretty decent sized bar, and they gave out complimentary water, which is super nice when you’ve been dancing! Plus the staff is seriously the nicest and it made the experience all the better! I loved seeing the staff even get into the music themselves, and one was
even dressed as Donkey. This theater is mainly standing room only which is super great for the dance party, and the stage is just the perfect size for everyone to see.

What also caught my eye was the crowd themselves! As I pulled up to park, I could already see so many people dressed up as characters from the movies! And when I walked inside, I was blown away by everyone’s costumes. It truly made this experience even more fun. Although 18+, this show had a range of ages in attendance! I watched a slew of college kids and middle aged people dance all together. All in all, this experience was so much fun! It was so funny getting to see all the Shrek infused music. I always love getting to go to the Castle Theatre raves and dance parties!
