Chuck’s Papas- The Castle Theatre

Loads of Indie and Folk Rock, high energy sets, and an overzealous crowd are how I would describe the line up that was Loose, Marble Teeth and Chuck’s Papas on Saturday during their respective shows at the Castle Theater. Each band shined through and put their own creative styles and flairs on display in a manner that was both fun and exciting, as well as boosted due to the great atmosphere that was present at the Castle Theater.

To begin, the venue was nothing short of packed. Up front by the stage saw countless people dancing and singing along to all three bands’ sets, oftentimes jumping up and down, waving their flashlights in the air, moshing, and singing along at the top of their lungs. You could really feel the energy present by the crowd evident by the numerous smiles plastered on the face of the audience. Closer to the back of the venue, the same traits apply. Seemingly everyone in attendance, me included, upheld the vibe of being present in the moment and having a good time – and the energy of the bands playing was reflective of that as well.

The first band to come out was Loose, a group that I previously was unfamiliar with, but after their set at the Castle Theater, I can confidently say that I am a fan. The four members came out dressed in jester outfits and played their music loudly and with pride. Through each song they danced up on stage along with the crowd and animated themselves in a way that just made you move along to their good vibrations. The lead singer came out donning a keyboard guitar, which added even more flair to their set. Overall, Loose was very energetic, jiggy, and just downright fun to see live on stage.

After a brief intermission, then came out the band Marble Teeth – who leaned more folk rock in comparison to the previous band, Loose. Unlike Loose, however, the three members of Marble Teeth came out wearing more business casual clothing which fit their overall sonic aesthetic more closely. The band played with a boatload of passion and enthusiasm, and track after track that was performed, the members’ sheer love for what they do became more and more apparent.

Lastly came Chucks Papas – who had the creative flair and intensified energy of the two previous bands, yet were particularly fun to see given the great dynamic that all of their members played with. The band began by featuring some of their greatest hits, before a few solo songs from a few of their members. The crowd was fully engaged through and through, and sonically, they sounded fantastic. Each member you could see was genuinely enjoying their time on stage, and the crowd was likewise enjoying seeing them.

Overall, my experience seeing Loose, Marble Teeth and Chucks Papa’s was nothing short of unforgettable. Each band played with such intensity and the crowd reflected their sense of fun and good vibes. I am more than excited to attend another show at the Castle Theater, given how spectacular this experience was.
