SWAT gazebos offering great resources for health and wellness

Written by on April 2, 2019

NORMAL- The Student Wellness Ambassador team (SWAT) made yet another appearance on the ISU campus today to promote health and awareness for students and staff.

Each week, SWAT gazebos are put up on various Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in various locations on the Illinois State University campus to get resources out to students and staff.

Aside from setting up the gazebos around the ISU campus, Jacob Giron, a member of the SWAT team describes what the student organization does to assist the students and staff of the ISU community.

“We promote all grounds of wellness, sexual health, physical health, mental health, and all types of areas of health, and we just want to get the word out there and help people be healthy.”

All of the resources that the SWAT team offers are free, but are limited, so students and staff can get their fair share of different items accessible to them. The health, promotion, and wellness offices offer more resources, as well as the health services too.

Regarding the benefits of the health gazebos, Joe Probst, another member of the SWAT team, explains the benefits to the items they offer to students and staff.

“I think it is a benefit for most people that might not have the options for it, or might not feel ready to grab the items, and so they have the options to grab the contraception that we also offer.”

The SWAT team wants to make sure that everyone is aware of the resources they offer, so that the students and staff of ISU are up to good standards of health and wellness.
