Redbird Softball Splits Doubleheader With Indiana State

NORMAL Ill.- Illinois State University Softball team split the double header against Indiana State University. Indiana State won the first game 5-4 and Illinois State won the second game 5-3.
Runs were not an issue for either team in both games. During the first game Bottom of the first inning the Redbirds scored the first run of the game. During the second Kaili Chval, Deliany Bryant, Jayden Standish and Dayna Kennedy all scored. In the top of the third, Indiana State Isabella Hennnig hit a three run home run against the Redbirds. Jayden Standish, Chval, and Addison Masching all scored in the fourth inning for Illinois State.
Home Runs fueled both teams in the twin bill. In the bottom of the Second inning Chval hit her second career home run. In the top of 4th, Bella Peterson hit a homer to left field. Cassie Thomerson hit a line drive home run to right. In the bottom of the 4th inning, Bryant hit a longball, with Kennedy on base.
Amanda Fox finished the game with 11 strikeouts, which proved to be a career high. Fox came as a relief pitcher in the first game and was the starter in the second game. Fox had pitched 5 innings in the Saturday April 2nd game as well.
The redbirds record now stands at 12-16, their next challenge will be a doubleheader versus Drake on Tuesday.
