NORMAL, Ill. – After 13.5 hours of bargaining at yesterday’s meeting, the United Faculty of Illinois State University reached three tentative agreements on noneconomic issues.
Workload, Assignment of Duties and Identification of Union Representatives have all been resolved between the parties according to the most recent university press release. This means almost all noneconmic issues have been resolved, leaving compensation and parental leave as the main focuses.
The union cast a strike authorization vote on March 21, meaning the union could strike as soon as April 4, as a 10-day notice is required by law before a strike occurs. This authorization vote came after a series of negotiations dating back to February of 2024
Additional bargaining dates have been set for the upcoming week, with a general membership meeting on Wednesday.
