NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State Men’s Basketball’s recruiting class gained two financial aid agreements (formerly known as national letters of intent) for the 26-27 school year, announced on Nov. 12.
Jordan Williams and Matthew Szafoni are the two players who signed their agreements.
Williams, a wing from Schaumburg, Illinois, attends Fremd High School. Williams is the seventh-ranked player in the state of Illinois for the class of 2026 per 247 Sports. The three-star prospect averaged 14 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game during the summer. Williams earned Third-team All-Under Armor Circuit honors.
“Jordan is an extremely versatile perimeter player,” Pedon said. “Jordan’s combination of talent and work ethic will allow him to shine in the years ahead.”
Szafoni, a forward from Chicago, is attending Lane Tech High School. Szafoni was teammates with Williams during the summer on the Elevate AAU team. This past High School season, with averages of 8.3 points, 5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game, Szafoni led the Chicago Public -Red South in assists per game.
“Matthew came out of nowhere this summer, and we were instantly impressed by his combination of size, skill, and athleticism,” Pedon said. “His ability to impact the game, both inside and out, with the skill he possesses with his size is something we value at a high level.”
