Stabbing near Illinois State University

NORMAL, Ill. – On Saturday, Sept. 12,  a stabbing took place on the corner of Vernon and Broadway Ave. 

Dispatch received a call at 11:18 p.m. reporting the incident.

According to Brad Park, Normal’s Chief of Police, he could not share much information as the case is still under active investigation, but he still discussed details that he could provide.

“The officers that arrived on scene were only able to locate the victim and render aid until the Normal Fire Department arrived to take over,” Park said.

“Initial observations from officers is the victim had some slashing and stab wounds to them and our investigation kind of went from there. He was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries,” Park said.

Throughout the interview, Park did not provide much additional information. However, he said police “do not think that there is a danger to the public.” 

As of Saturday, no person is in custody regarding this stabbing, and police have yet to determine if the people involved were ISU students. It is also yet to be determined if the attack was premeditated.
