NORMAL – After losing 15 straight games against the Drake Bulldogs, ISU swept the season series behind Terrion Moores 18 points.

“For a young lady like Paige Saylor, who for four years just hadn’t had success over Drake, they’ve always been that elusive team that we hadn’t cracked that code.”

Four players reached double digits, as Mary Crompton had 11, Deanna Wilson with 12 and Kate Bullman putting up 10.

The first quarter was very similar to Friday’s game, as both teams attacked the paint and battled very physically to start. Drake opened the game going 3-3 from the three point line and ISU went 2-4. Terrion Moore got off to a hot start, scoring seven points in the first frame. At the end of 1, Drake had the lead at 21-20.

Grace Berg got things going for the Bulldogs in the second quarter, by dropping seven of her 22 points. ISU went on a small cold streak towards the middle of the quarter but Mary Crompton got them out of it. Crompton knocked down two trey balls and gotsome help from the two freshmen, Maya Wong and Kate Bullman.

The Redbirds were able to distance themselves in the third quarter thanks to some clutch three point shooting. Moore made back to back shots beyond the arc with under four minutes left in the quarter to put the Redbirds ahead 51-47. From that point the Redbirds did not surrender the lead for the remainder of the game. ISU would go on to win 81-71.

In addition to Moore the Redbirds were aided by 11 points from Crompton. Bullman and DeAnna Wilson led the way defensively with 8 and 5 rebounds respectively.

The Redbirds will travel to Peoria to face their I-74 rival Bradley on Thursday.
