Redbirds Set to Host George Washington in WNIT Great 8

NORMAL, Ill. — Illinois State women’s basketball continues its postseason run as the Redbirds will host George Washington tonight in the WNIT Great 8.

Illinois State and George Washington will meet for the first time in program history Monday evening.

The Redbirds are coming off a hard-fought 59–55 win over Abilene Christian Wildcats on Friday night.

On the other side, George Washington enters the matchup with momentum of their own after defeating Loyola Chicago 71–62 on Friday.

Leading the way for Illinois State this season has been sophomore forward Donnelah Washington, who leads the team in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 17 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.

Point guard Trista Fayta has also played a key role, leading the team with 5.8 assists per game.

For George Washington  sophomore guard Gabby Reynolds leads the team in scoring, averaging 14.6 points per game. Junior forward Sara Lewis leads the team with six rebounds per game.

The Redbirds will look to protect home court once again, as the team holds a 16–1 record this season at CEFCU Arena.
