Redbirds Set for Three Game Series Against Middle Tennessee State

NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State University Baseball team travels to Murfreesboro, Tenn. for a three game weekend series against the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders.
On Feb. 25, ISU routed Alabama A&M 14-2 in seven innings. Redshirt Sophomore Brayden Bakes stays hot at the dish, going 2-4 with a three-run home run in the sixth inning.
The Redbirds also saw contributions from Luke Stugla, Josh Outlaw and Eric Machej, who combined for six hits, four RBIs and six runs scored.
Now sitting at 6-2, the Redbirds look ahead to MTSU, who also sit at 6-2 with back to back wins. This will be ISU’s second weekend slate against a common opponent after their opening series against SIUE, where they won the series 2-1.
The Redbirds announced its starters for the weekend. Senior Thomas Harper gets the nod for game one, which starts at 3 p.m. In two starts this season, Harper has limited opponents to two runs scores and six hits while striking out seven.
Game two’s starter is Redshirt sophomore Carson Cormier. This will be Cormier’s second start and third appearance this season. Cormier has tossed seven innings so far, striking out eight batters. Game two sets off at 1 p.m.
Closing the series, Freshman Luke Teschke is on the bump for ISU. Teschke makes his third start on Sunday, he has recorded three strikeouts in 4.1 innings of work. Game three is slated to start at 1 p.m.
