It’s difficult to top the ISU men’s team ousting arch-rival Bradley for the first time in three years. But with a 6-3 overall record and a talented group of women, the redbird women’s basketball team looks to continue their hot start with games tonight and Friday against the Evansville Purple Aces. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. at Redbird Arena for both matchups.
These unique double home games have provided some mixed results for ISU. The team lost back to back games to UNI a few weeks back, swept Indiana State shortly after, and split a pair with Valparaiso. Following this series ISU will compete in four more of these sequences through the end of the regular season, March 6th.
As for the Purple Aces it’s been rough sledding thus far. The team has suffered six consecutive blowout losses and have yet to win an in-conference game. Evansville ranks dead last in the Missouri Valley Conference in points per game and win/loss margin.
The last matchup between these two teams came on March 5th of 2020 where the Redbirds marched to a 68-51 victory. Juju Redmond led all scorers with 18 points and grabbed 9 boards to go along with it. Maybe Redmond, who has been a tear of late, will help kick the first of this weekend’s game off with a redbird win.
