Redbirds Look to Extend Win Streak Against UIC

Written by on January 22, 2026

NORMAL, Ill. — Illinois State women’s basketball will be on the road tonight in Chicago to face UIC.

The Redbirds are on a three-game winning streak and come into the game with a 10–8 overall record and a 4–3 mark in conference play.  On the other hand, UIC comes into the game on a one-game skid after losing to Southern Illinois in their last matchup. UIC has an 8–10 overall record on the season and a 3–4 record in conference play.

Tonight’s contest marks the 28th meeting between the Flames and the Redbirds. Illinois State has won four straight against the Flames and 12 of the last 14 meetings. ISU is 6–1 against UIC since the Flames joined the Missouri Valley Conference.

One of the players who has been red hot for the Redbirds is sophomore forward Doneelah Washington. Washington is one of only five MVC players since the 2009–10 season to record 25 or more points, 10 or more rebounds, four or more steals, and two or more blocks in a single game against a Missouri Valley Conference opponent. She is also the only Illinois State player since 2009–10 to accomplish that feat.

What to watch tonight will be Illinois State’s defensive pressure and ability to control the paint, along with whether the Redbirds can keep their momentum going against a UIC team looking to bounce back at home.

Tonight’s game will tip off at 7 p.m. The Redbirds will then take on Indiana State on the road Sunday.
