Redbirds Look to Close Regular Season On a High Note Ahead of Tournament

Normal, IL.- The Illinois State Women’s Basketball Team will reach the finale of their 2020-2021 season this weekend with a pair of bouts against Loyola-Chicago. I-S-U will play their second and third consecutives game on the road after throttling Bradley in Peoria last Thursday. The Friday-Saturday doubleheader will feature two 3 p.m. tip offs.
Illinois State comes into the weekend winning each of their last three games. Meanwhile Loyola-Chicago is experiencing the opposite end of that spectrum as they have dropped each of their last three games, and four of their last five. Both programs are in the middle of the pack in the MVC, The Redbirds are currently the third seed in the Missouri Valley Conference while the Ramblers are not far behind while tied for the sixth seed.
When the weekend concludes seeding will be finalized for the Hoops in the Heartland tournament. The annual single-elimination tournament is held in Moline, Illinois and will begin on March 11th. If Illinois State can win one more game in their series against Loyola-Chicago than Drake can in their series against Valparaiso, they can clinch the #2 seed, as ISU is just one game behind Drake in the standings.
