Redbirds Fall In Series Finale Against Valparaiso

NORMAL- The Illinois State women’s basketball team fell to Valparaiso Friday evening in Redbird Arena by a score of 75 to 58.
The third quarter proved costly for the Redbirds as they were outscored by the Crusaders 29 to 12. After a tight first half the Crusaders came out hot and stayed hot the rest of the way, shooting 11-of-22 from three-point range and 21-of-46 from the field. Meanwhile the Redbirds struggled shooting just 3-of-15 from three and 17-of-59 from the field.
The Redbirds were led by Senior Juliunn Redmond who scored 20 points and added nine rebounds. Valparaiso was led by the hot shooting of Caitlin Morrison with 21 points and 18 points from Shay Frederick.
Illinois State falls to 6-3 overall on the year and 3-3 in Missouri Valley play. Valparaiso goes to 6-5 on the season and 2-2 in conference play.
The Redbird women’s team will be back in action next Friday night at Redbird Arena as the Evansville Purple Aces will visit Normal.
