NORMAL, Ill. — Illinois State women’s basketball wrapped up its home schedule last night, hosting conference rival Southern Illinois at CEFCU Arena.

The Redbirds defeated the Salukis 78–60 to split the season series and get some revenge after Southern Illinois knocked off ISU 84–64 back on February 13th.

Leading the way for the Redbirds was sophomore forward Doneelah Washington, a four-time Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week. Washington finished with a double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

Illinois State had four players finish in double figures. Sophomore guard Trista Fyfe added 16 points and seven assists. Freshman guard Kaya Hurt chipped in 14 points, while senior forward Addison Martin finished with 11.

For Southern Illinois, senior forward Indya Green led all scorers with 24 points and fell just one rebound short of a double-double.

With the victory the Redbirds improved to 17–11 overall on the season and 11–6 in conference play. Illinois State also wrapped up the year with an impressive 14–1 record at CEFCU Arena.

Up next for the Redbirds is a road matchup against Valparaiso, as Illinois State looks to complete the season sweep. That game tips off Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Athletics-Recreation Center.
