Freshman Stars Shine as Redbird Women’s Golf Conclude Fall Season

NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State University Women’s golf team finishes in 11th place in Nevada at the Clash at Boulder Creek hosted by the University of Northern Arizona.

The Redbirds’ best scorer was freshman Jessica Jolly, who played as an individual. Jolly shot six under throughout the tournament, earning her a ninth-place finish. Jolly was consistent throughout the tournament, posting a two-under round for all three rounds.

Freshman Elise Fennell scored the lowest round for the team with her four-under tournament. Her best round came in round one when she shot a three-under. Fennell cooled off in the next two rounds, shooting a combined one under. Her score put her in 17th place.

Senior Lory Paradis’s tough round two put her at one over for the tournament. Paradis shot a three-over in round two, but her even round one and two-under round three evened it out. Paradis finished 35 individually, jumping 10 spots in round three.

Graduate Student Jinyoung Yun shot a two-over for the tournament. Yun’s tough first two rounds put her at for over heading into day three. In round three, Yun shot a two-under, helping her jump up in the rankings. On the final day, Yun jumped up 14 positions, putting herself in 41st place.

Redshirt Junior Morgan Jones finished day one with a tough eight-over round. After day two, Jones was right back in it after posting a five-under round. On the final day, Jones would shoot even par, ending her tournament at three-over par.

The final Redbird in the tournament was freshman Alex Sparrow. Sparrow finished the tournament 10-over. Sparrow, heading into round three, was 12 over par. Sparrow carded a two-under round, jumping 15 places to 74th place.

ISU’s Women’s Golf Team’s season is done for the fall season. They will resume play in late January, heading down to Jacksonville, Florida
