Redbird Track & Field Prepare for Lenny Lyles Invite

NORMAL Ill.- Illinois State University track and field indoor season is off and running. So far during this season, the Redbirds have competed in four meets. The last time, Illinois State Track and Field Time was in Louisville was during the 2021 outdoor season.
Senior Thrower Hannah Johnson talks about the upcoming meet and how they prepare for not only this meet but conference as a whole.
“We’re going to Louisville this weekend. I think something that we’re working on right now is being really serious in every meet and trying to be our best where ever we’re at no matter who’s at the meet we want to show up and do the best we can no matter the competition is so when we get to conference time we’re ready to go .” Said Johnson
Hannah Johnson, also, mentioned her goals for conference.
“I’m stepping into kinda big role this year, hoping to Score a good amount of points at conference. So I’m continuing to build my throws and I want to be a big points scorer at our conference meet this year” Said Johnson
This year Hannah is the only senior thrower on the Women’s side and which she takes about taking on leadership role for the team and to help each one of her teammates.
“I think its a good position for me to try lead my teammates to be the best they could be. I’m a team representative this year which is kinda like our team captain and I think being a voice for the team is really important encouraging my teammates to the best they can.” Said Johnson
After this meet in Louisville, the Redbirds will be going to South Bend, Indiana to face Notre Dame in the Meyo invite on February 4th and February 5th.
